Local Gas Prices 27 Cents Higher Than Year Ago

According to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report, West Texas Intermediate crude oil prices decreased by 25 cents to settle at $101.31 per barrel yesterday.

This decrease was attributed to ongoing economic stability concerns with the euro zone.

Global economic weakness, and the associated decrease in demand for oil, exerts downward pressure on the price of crude.

As crude oil prices remain fresh off of multi-month highs the price of gasoline at the pump as also increased.

The current national average retail price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline is $3.372 up 9.3 cents from last month.

In Pennsylvania, today’s average price of self-serve gasoline is $3.463 up 11.6 cents from a month ago and 30.2 cents higher than a year ago.

In the Lehigh Valley, the average price for self- serve regular unleaded gasoline is $3.438 per gallon.

That is 12.9 cents higher than a month ago and 30.8 cents higher than a year ago. In the Philadelphia market, the average price for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline is $3.456 per gallon. That is 10.4 cents higher than a month ago and 26.9 cents higher than a year ago.
