Local Moving Company to Host Food Drive for Norco Food Pantry

Bekin's Transfer and Storage will host a food drive in the parking lot of Redner's Market this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A local moving company will be making a "Move for Hunger" on May 11, as they attempt to fill a truck with donations that will benefit the North Coventry Food Pantry.

Bekin's Transfer and Storage, along with help from the non-profit Mover for Hunger organization, will host the food drive in the parking lot of Redner's Market – located at 1300 North Charlotte Street, Pottstown – from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday.

According to the press release, the donations will provide meals to some of the 83,000 people in the area that live on incomes that put them at risk of hunger. More than 30-percent of those people are children.

Move for Hunger adds that donations at this time of year are critical, as food banks and pantries are more stressed than usual due to children being out of school for the summer. With no school in session, those students no longer have access to the free or reduced meals they usual eat.

Though all donations are welcome, the most needed items are canned vegetables, fruits, meats, tuna, rice, beans, pasta and peanut butter.

“Not many people realize that hunger is a huge problem every day of the year,” said Adam Lowy, Executive Director of Move For Hunger. “We are so excited to see the Move For Hunger agents get involved with other members of their community to end hunger.”
