'Miss Amazing' Lamoni Green Honored By Pottstown Borough Council

Green, who has cerebral palsy, recently competed in a national contest in Nashville after being named Pennsylvania's "Junior Miss Amazing."

POTTSTOWN, PA — Lamoni Green, Pennyslvania's "Junior Miss Amazing," was recently honored by the Pottstown Borough Council with a citation recognizing her achievements.

Green, 20, of Pottstown, won the Pennsylvania "Miss Amazing" contest, then competed in the national "Miss Amazing" competition in Nashville, John Amato, director of community relations at Pottstown Public Schools, said.

The "Miss Amazing" contests are designed for young women with disabilities, Amato said. Green has cerebral palsy.

Lamoni first competed at the 2019 national Miss Amazing contest in Chicago, The Mercury reported.

"She didn’t win that one, but she might as well have, given the grace and leadership she showed," The Mercury wrote. "When the winner was announced, and other contestants became upset, her first response was to go over and console them, to tell them they were wonderful no matter what."

That ability to help others will serve Green in the future, as she hopes to go to Temple University in Philadelphia and become a motivational speaker.

Pottstown Mayor Stephanie Henrick presented Green with the citation, Amato said.

"She is an excellent example of 'hard work pays off,' Amato said. "Thanks for giving us another reason to say 'proud to be from Pottstown.'"
