A joint investigation conducted by Pottstown Police and the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office determined that a black Chrysler 300 that was owned and operated by Harvey was found to be following the white Nissan Sentra driven by Baird for a period of time before the fatal shooting occurred.

Investigators said that the Chrysler followed the Sentra for 40 minutes before there was an exchange of gunfire between the occupants of the two vehicles at Locust Alley and West Street.

"The investigation found that Baird's vehicle had attempted to avoid Harvey's vehicle throughout that time, but Harvey would find and follow the Sentra again," the DA's Office stated in its news release.

Authorities said that numerous spent shell casings were found at the crime scene.

After the shooting, Baird's vehicle traveled eastbound on West Street for about two blocks before crashing head-on into a pickup truck, according to the DA's Office.

According to a criminal complaint, police officers who responded to the shooting attempted to perform life-saving measures on Baird before he was taken by ambulance to Pottstown Hospital - Tower Health for emergency medical care.

Doctor Ali Chaudhary pronounced Baird dead at 8:44 p.m. that night, the criminal complaint states.

The complaint states that the unidentified driver of the pickup truck was transported to Reading Hospital for treatment of his injuries. No other information about the driver's condition was provided.

Harvey is being charged with first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting.
