Montco Man Convicted Of Raping Young Teenage Girl In 2019

NORRISTOWN, PA — A Norristown man was convicted following a jury trial last week on charges that he raped a young teenage girl back in the spring of 2019 at a home in western Montgomery County, according to media reports and court records.
John Anthony Lasorda, 30, was found guilty on an array of charges stemming from the April 2019 rape, which occurred at the Douglass Township home of a friend where Lasorda was staying at the time.
Court records show that Lasorda was convicted on charges of rape by forcible compulsion, statutory sexual assault of someone 11 years or older, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault without consent, indecent assault of a person less than 16 years of age, and other related charges.

A report in the Mercury newspaper of Pottstown said that the rape occurred in April 2019, but it was not reported until two months later when the victim confided in her parents that she had been sexually assaulted at the Douglass Township home, which was located along Swamp Pike.
Douglass Township is located in western Montgomery County just north of Pottstown.

The newspaper account, which cites a police arrest affidavit, says that the girl reported that Lasorda forced her onto a couch and sexually assaulted her while she was visiting the home, and that Lasorda also threatened to further harm the girl if she ever told anyone about the assault.
The victim was 13 years old at the time of the rape, according to reports.
Court records show that Lasorda was found guilty following a jury trial last week in Norristown.
The court docket sheet in the case shows that Lasorda was represented by Norristown-based private attorney Brooks Thomas Thompson.
Sentencing does not yet appear to have been scheduled, and Lasorda remains confined to county jail pending sentencing, according to court records.
