'Occupy' Headed To Pottstown

The group plans two demonstrations downtown this month.

Plans are underway for Occupy Pottstown to hold two organized protests in in the borough this month.

The group will "peacefully demonstrate in order to raise awareness of the effects suffered by our community in relationship to corporate greed, big bank (and) Wall Street bailouts and the all-too-common practice of allowing our country's leaders be bought off," said Amy Bathurst Francis, of Occupy Pottstown, via e-mail.

"It is Occupy Pottstown's collective opinion that, unfortunately, Pottstown has today become the perfect example of how a community breaks down due to these national practices," she said.

The demonstrations are set for:
• 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 21 at Hanover Street and College Drive
• On Nov. 26, the group will lead the "Occupy Downtown Pottstown Walk" to support local businesses and Small Business Saturday. A time for the event has not been set.
