Drug Raid on South Street in Pottstown Leads to Charges for Philadelphia Man
Pottstown police allegedly discovered more than 70 bags of heroin and 28 bags of crack cocaine inside the first-floor apartment of a building on the 400 block of South Street.

A Philadelphia man is facing multiple felonies following the drug raid of an apartment on the 400 block of South Street in Pottstown.
Members of the Pottstown Police Department entered the first-floor apartment with a search warrant at 4:24 p.m. on Jan. 22, according to the police report. Upon entry, police encountered a man – who identified himself as Markel Donaldson – reaching behind a radiator in one of the bedrooms, the report states.
After calling dispatch, police on the scene learned that Markel Donaldson was an alias belonging to 40-year-old Gordon Young, of the 1200 block of 26th Street, Philadelphia. Additionally, they learned that Young was wanted on a state parole warrant.

Police also encountered a second man, but Patch is witholding his name as he was not charged. With both men secured, police then began to conduct their search of the residence.
The report states that police discovered a clear sandwich baggie near the radiator in the bedroom, which allegedly contained 28 loose baggies of crack cocaine and 20 bags of heroin marked "El Diablo."

In a different bedroom, police also found a black bag hidden in a drop ceiling, which allegedly contained another 54 bags of heroin, as well as drug paraphernalia and needles.
In total, police discovered 74 bags of heroin, 28 bags of crack cocaine, and numerous pieces of drug paraphernalia.
As a result of the raid, Young has been charged with two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver, two misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance, two misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and a misdemeanor charge of giving false identification to law enforcement.
Young was arraigned on Jan. 22, and later taken to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in leiu of $25,000 cash bail.
