Pottsgrove Manor will open a new iron exhibit on Saturday at 1 p.m. with a lecture from historian Dan Graham.
The exhibit, titled "Forging a Lifestyle: Ironworking with the Potts Family," will explore the workings of the early iron industry, as well as the business decisions made by notable iron-working families like the Potts', Rutter's, Nutt's and Savage's.
Graham will kick off the exhibit with a lecture titled "Colonial Pennsylvania Cast Iron Fire Backs, Stove Plates, and Warming Stoves, 1726-1760," which will trace the development of stoves from the "simple five-plate jamb stove" to the Franklin stove. Afterwards, guests will be offered guided tours of the exhibit.
