Pottstown Hosts Honor Society Induction

The event included a candlelight ceremony for students in the classes of 2012, 2013 and 2014.

The Pottstown High School Honor Society conducted a candlelight induction ceremony for students in classes of 2012 through 2014.

The inductees were greeted with opening remarks from National Honor Society Adviser Robert Decker, who gave a brief history of the society. 

President of the Honor Society, senior Vaughn Shirey, officiated the remainder of the ceremony.

Pottstown Supt. Reed Lindley encouraged the inductees to strive for success in all aspects of life.

Stephen Rodriguez, the high school principal, challenged the students to become leaders by utilizing their time in the society for the betterment of others. 

Honor Society Vice-President Carly Mutter, Secretary Erin Sellers, Treasurer Marisa Somich, and Historian Morgan Richards assisted Shirey in the ceremony.

Candles were lit to represent the service, leadership, character and scholarship.  Shirey administered the National Honor Society Pledge to the newly elected members.  

The 2011-2012 Honor Society inductees included: Trevon Clifford, Nathan Fuerman, Emily Griffin, Joshua Hartman, Lindsey Havyer, Jill Lawrence, Alisha Moses, Tyisha Reddick, Tatiana Robinson, Ashley Slody, Leanne Strauss, Jeffrey Vontor and Jade Yingling. 

Pottstown Board of School Directors President Rick Huss provided the closing remarks, talked of his pride in the accomplishments of the inductees and encouraged them to continue their quest for success.

Membership in National Honor Society requires an overall grade point average of 93 or above.  Applicants must demonstrate the qualities of leadership, service and character. All applications for membership are reviewed by a faculty council.
