The Harcum winner faced tough competition from undergraduate and graduate students at Arcadia University, The Art Institute of Philadelphia, Drexel University, Moore College of Art and Design and Philadelphia University, as well as seven students from Harcum’s Interior Design Program. This is the second win for a Harcum student in the prestigious competition; the first was recognized in 2009. KlingStubbins, an international firm providing more than 60 years of interior design, engineering, architecture, planning and landscape architecture services, sponsored the event.
This year’s KlingStubbins Competition was a seven-hour design “charette” during which students received a building shell and a program description to design a commercial space. The process required floor plans, perspective drawings and material finishes on two boards. Manorek’s winning entry included a design concept for an interactive dining experience with space for a restaurant, cooking school and demonstration kitchen. As third place winner, Manorek received a framed award, a winner's ribbon and a cash prize.

Lauren is a strong example of how Harcum students turn what they learn into real-world accomplishments.”
