'Stand With Our Nation’s Veterans'
A letter to the editor from The National Committee:

As Veteran’s Day approaches, advocates and volunteers with the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare today demanded that Senator Pat Toomey and Rep. Michael Fitzpatrick stand with our nation’s veterans and working Americans to stop cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
“More than 964,000 of veterans in the state of Pennsylvania will come to rely on these critical income and retirement programs, and we must keep our promise to those who have given us so much,” said Paul Murdock, a veteran and Pennsylvania resident. “I am proud to stand with my fellow volunteers to demand that no cuts be made to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid as part of federal deficit reduction.”
Nationally, Social Security currently pays benefits to over 9 million veterans -- four in 10 veterans today -- and veterans and their families make up 35 percent of the adult Social Security beneficiary population. Proposed cuts by the Congressional Super Committee would have disastrous effects for the millions who rely on these programs.

Campaign activities are focused on members of Congress and the 12-member Deficit Reduction Super Committee and will include local and national radio and TV advertising, town halls, social media, petition drives, phone campaigns, and local or regional events.
