Townhall To Discuss Vaccine's Importance To Montco, Pottstown
On Jan. 12 public health professionals and community leaders meet in hopes of building trust with communities of color regarding vaccines.
POTTSTOWN, PA — Healthcare and public health professionals will join Montgomery County community leaders Tuesday in a townhall meeting to address the importance of vaccines and to answer questions from the community.
The TriCounty Health Council and Montgomery County Immunization Coalition will host a virtual town hall, "The Importance of Vaccines: Building Trust Within Communities of Color," on Jan. 12, at 5:30 p.m.
Community voices will steer the conversation, the townhall organizers said in a news release.

When participants register, they will be able to submit questions for the panel that will help guide the hour-long discussion, the organizers said.
Panelists in the townhall include Valerie A. Arkoosh, chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners; Jonathan Corson, president of the Pottstown NAACP; Nelly Jimenez-Arevalo, executive director and CEO of ACLAMO Family Centers; Richard Lorraine, medical director of the Montgomery County Office of Public Health; Irene Shepherd, Community Health and Dental Care’s chief medical officer; Meghan Smith, Chester County Health Department's planning and promotion coordinator; and Stacey Woodland, CEO of Tri County Area YWCA.

John Harris, director of Veralon, will moderate the discussion.
The Montgomery County Immunization Coalition represents over 30 organizations including health care providers, public health professionals, medical associations, non-profit organizations, and educators working together to promote age-appropriate immunizations across the lifespan for all Montgomery County residents.
The TriCounty Health Council is a collaborative effort by leaders from Pottstown Hospital-Tower Health, Community Health and Dental Care, Creative Health Services, Pottstown Area Health and Wellness Foundation, and other community organizations to improve health outcomes in Pottstown and surrounding communities.
