900 Celebrate Memorial Day At Radnor Middle School

WAYNE, PA - About 900 Radnor Middle School students and staffers participated Friday in the second annual Memorial Day ceremony honoring those who served our nation.

“We educate our children about the importance of service, sacrifice, and patriotism and show our appreciation and respect to the fallen heroes and their families,” Dr. Dave Wiedlich, principal, said.

Radnor Student Council led the Pledge Of Allegiance followed by the chorus singing the National Anthem.

Eighth-grade trumpeter James Fredericks performed “To the Colors,” a traditional bugle call honoring the United States.

Mary Kay Church, a retired U.S. Marine major, spoke about the importance of honoring and remembering fallen servicemen and servicewomen. She also led a bell-ringing tribute in respect and gratitude for their sacrifice.

Other speakers included James Ask, a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy; Col. Seitz of Valley Forge Military Academy; and members of the American Legion Post 668.

Patriotic musical selections were played by the chorus, orchestra, and band. Teacher Amy read the poem, “Celebration of Military Mothers."
