WAYNE, PA —Philadelphia luxury retailer Boyds has opened a second store in downtown Wayne, 201 W. Lancaster Ave.

“We are most excited to service our existing clients who might find Wayne more convenient and also to build relationships with new ones who aren’t currently shopping with us in Center City,” Kent Gushner, CEO, said.

The fourth-generation, family-owned business whose flagship store has thrived in Center City Philadelphia for 84 years, Gushner said.

Gushner said the expansion into the Main Line means shoppers will have access to world-class designers and contemporary fashion without battling mall traffic and big crowds.

Boyds Wayne is housed in the striking 1931 Art Deco building that was the home of the E.B. Maguire Ford dealership that later became the world’s first Anthropologie store.

The 11,000 square-foot structure underwent a transformative renovation and re-design over the summer.

Led by Philadelphia architectural firm Canno Design, the store features fashion and accessories by 250 designers from around the world including Alexander McQueen, Christian Louboutin, and Jacquemus for women, and Brunello Cucinelli, Isaia, and Zegna for men.

“Loungewear for luxury apparel”

The store opened as the fashion world geared up for the latest fall styles and emerged from COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, with consumers eager to swap loungewear for luxury apparel.

“People are getting dressed up again,” Andrew Gushner, fourth generation clothier, said.

For women, pink, glitz and sequins and cinched waists are the latest fashion. For men, wardrobes are tailored with smart investment pieces and luxury sportswear.

The store features elevated fashion for evening wear and special occasions. Complimentary tailoring and free parking is available.

“But most importantly, clients will find the same world-class attention to customer service for which the original, iconic Boyds in Center City is famous,” Missy Dietz, director of business development, said.

Hours are Monday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
