Delco Drivers Among Worst For School Bus Passing, School Zone Speeding
Data from the Magisterial District Judge System shows Delco has the fifth-highest percentage of drivers who illegally pass school buses.
DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Drivers in Delaware County have some of the highest rates of illegally passing school buses, according to PA Courts.
The court system recently released data on drivers in each county and how often they illegally pass school buses as the 2025-26 school year approaches.
According to data from the Magisterial District Judge System, these are the number of Title 75 School Zone violations issued in Delaware County from Jan. 1, 2020 through Dec. 31, 2024:

- 2022 — 89
- 2023 — 107
- 2024 — 99
- Total — 448
Delaware County drivers who illegally pass buses account for 5.91 percent of all violators in that time period across Pennsylvania, the fifth highest in the state.
Additionally, Delco drivers make up 7.75 percent of drivers cited for speeding in school zones between Jan. 1, 2020 through Dec. 31, 2024. That percentage is the second highest in the state, behind Allegheny County drivers.

- 2022 — 342
- 2023 — 227
- 2024 — 268
- Total — 1,156
Over the past five years, 22,502 Pennsylvania drivers have been cited for school zone violations, according to the data.
Drivers are reminded to slow down in school zones, stop for school buses and stay alert to help ensure the safety of students.
