3 Roxborough Teachers Honored For Education Dedication

PHILADELPHIA — Three Roxborough teachers are among 60 others in the School District of Philadelphia to have received annual recognition by the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Foundation.

According to the district, 60 teachers and seven principals were recognized by the foundation.

The announcement of the Lindback Awards comes during National Teacher Appreciation Week, which runs from May 4 through May 8.

The Lindback Award for Distinguished Public Teachers is reserved for educators who demonstrate excellence in promoting learning at the highest levels.

Teachers recognized in Roxborough are:

• Gregory Smith, W.B. Saul High School of Agricultural Sciences;
• Walter Myrick, AMY Northwest School;
• and Rosemaria Kalogerakis, Roxborough High School

Given annually by the Lindback Foundation since 2008, the award for teachers includes a $3,500 stipend. The award for principals was established in 2011 and is accompanied by a $20,000 stipend for the principal to use to improve their school community.
