Trinity Center for Urban Life & Aurora Classical Present Our American Experiences: A 9/11 20th Anniversary Remembrance Festival

Our American Experiences is a festival in remembrance of the 20th anniversary of 9/11/01. It will begin with a solemn sharing of stories and music at 8:30 am at the World Trade Center (WTC) Memorial on the Schyulkill River Trail (SRT). Then from 11 am onward, there will be concerts and story telling of our American experiences at 22nd and Spruce. Between concerts by local professional classical musicians, story telling for children, and poetry readings by local poets. On display will be art work and artifacts from 9/11/01 for you to view and spend the day. Refreshments will be served.

LOCATION: World Trade Center Memorial is on the south side of the Chestnut Street Bridge on the Schyulkill River Trail. Enter the SRT on Locust Street, Walnut Street, or Market Street.
In case of rain, the event will be at Trinity Memorial Church at 22nd & Spruce Streets in Philadelphia. Entrance to Trinity is on 22nd Street.

Morning tribute show will include stories of September 11th, 2001, and the following months (with an opportunity to share your story if you like), music, a moment of silence and the laying of flowers at the memorial. Performers include: Glenn Fischbach, Cellist, Susan Weinman, Narrator and The Every Day Divas including Ms. Weinman, Nancy Morgenstern, and Patty McMahon performing American Folk music. and Bagpiper Jeff Edwards.

Come and go as you please, enjoy the performance, look at the displays and enjoy refreshments outside. PER FRINGE FESTIVAL RULES, EVERYONE NOT PERFORMING IS REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK WHEN INDOORS.
11:00am: KIDS HOUR in the courtyard of Trinity Memorial Church 22nd and Spruce Entrance on 22nd.
There will be a Children’s Sing-Along with Nancy Morgenstern. Krys Cooper will read the children’s book “Fireboat” by Maira Kalman. Afterwards, everyone is invited to use chalk to draw a picture about the story on the sidewalk outside.
12:00pm “Rivers” American art songs exploring American folk music including spirituals and indigenous American songs. Martin Hargrove, Bass – Julia Hanna, Pianist.
12:50pm Poetry Reading by Krystiane Cooper
1:00pm “Knoxville: Summer of 1915,” Samuel Barber Staged Performance
