Arts Center Offers Kids Camp
A summer arts camp for kids starts on July 8, at the Manayunk Roxborough Art Center.

Summer vacation is great, but sometimes you need a vacation from the vacation.
To help alleviate the sometime-summer vacation problem of too much time, too little to do, the Manayunk Roxborough Art Center has a Children’s Summer Art Camp starting July 8.
The camp will be made up of seven, one week sessions where kids can explore different mediums from clay and painting to drawing and mixed media.

“These one week camp sessions are designed to engage children ages six and up in the fine art of creative play,” said Art Center Education Director Janice Strader.
Strader added, “Each weekly session will explore wonderous techniques and materials new and old, from other cultures, times, or places. Children will come away from camp with new ways of seeing and being, but best of all, they will come away with wonderful, unique creations.”

The very first week long session will teach children about the zig-zag pottery of the Zuni Indians, while other sessions will explore polka dots and print making.
Camp sessions begin at 9:30 am daily, and end at 12:00 noon with options for Monday-Wednesday-Friday, as well as Tuesday-Thursday classes. Campers can also elect to come every day Monday through Friday.
Pre-registation is encourged.
