Great Weiner Race Returning To Manayunk In September

The popular dachshund-racing event will feature food trucks beers, vendors, and more while benefiting Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society.

MANAYUNK, PHILADELPHIA — Lucky's Last Chance in Manayunk is gearing up for the return of the Great Wiener Race. The popular dachshund-racing event will be held on Sept. 4 in Pretzel Park.

It all kicks off at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at Pretzel Park, with races starting at 6:15 p.m. sharp.

Dachshunds and mixed dachshunds will race for bragging rights while fans and dog owners shop from local vendors, sip drinks in the beer garden to refresh in, and enjoy grub from food trucks.

Dogs will be able to enjoy a dog ball pit and other canine friendly activities.

The event will raise money for the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) and Friends of Pretzel Park. All sales of sponsored beers will be donated to PAWS, while a portion of food truck sales also go directly to PAWS.

The beer garden is sponsored by East Falls Beverage and will feature beers from Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company, Terrapin Beer Co., Wissahickon Brewing Company, 2SP Brewing Company, and Tito's Handmade Vodka.

PAWS will be on site on race day with pups for adoption and accepting donations.

You can also stop by either Lucky's Last Chance location to purchase a paper dog to get your name up in the bar with all proceeds going to PAWS.

All dogs looking to race must be registered online. Space is limited.
