ROXBOROUGH, PHILADELPHIA — Students at Roxborough's Walter B. Saul High School got a visit from Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts Tuesday, but Hurts was there to honor one of the students' classmates who was tragically killed this year.

Hurts visited the school formerly attended by Nicolas Elizalde Tuesday.

Elizalde, 14, of Havertown, was shot and killed outside Roxborough High School in September when authorities said several gunmen opened fire on him and four other teens.

The star quarterback spent a few hours at the school, meeting with students, staff, and — most importantly — the Elizalde family, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

"Nick’s family finds a lot of value in what I do on the field," Hurt said. "They find a lot of joy in what I do on the field, so I hold that in high regard,” he said. “It’s definitely on my mind when I’m out there playing."

Hurts spoke out against gun violence after the Sept. 27 shooting outside a football scrimmage at Roxborough High School, saying he prays for changes to end gun violence and the families affected by it.

According to the Inquirer, Elizalde only attended Walter B. Saul High School for three weeks before he was killed.

Four people are in custody in connection with the deadly shooting, and one remains a fugitive of justice.
