Longtime Roxborough Woman, Hospital Registrar, Dies At 82

"Above all else, she will be remembered for her endearing love to her family."

LANSDALE, PA -- Rita M. Ferris, 82, of Lansdale and formerly of Roxborough, passed away Monday, April 18, 2016. She was the loving wife of 58 years to Francis P. Ferris, Jr.

Born October 30, 1933, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen (Majka) Sommers.

Mrs. Ferris had been a hospital registrar and was a member of Corpus Christi Church, Lansdale.

She enjoyed cruising with her husband and family. Above all else she will be remembered for her endearing love to her family.

Other survivors include four children, Daniel C. Ferris (Theresa), of Manayunk, Michael F. Ferris (Lorraine), of Horsham, Gary P. Ferris (Robert), of Roxborough, and Kathleen M. Zamorski (Walter J. III), of Hatfield; two grandchildren, Jeffrey W. and Ashley M. Zamorski; two sisters, Marie Sommers of East Norriton, and Joan Hilton(George), of Maple Glen.

The family will receive friends starting 9:00 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2016, at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale, with the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers contributions in her name may be made to “Saving Lives Foundation, PO Box 2051, Horsham, PA 19044”.
