Rafael Ali, 32, Philadelphia Police Officer

Services for Rafael Ali, who died in a crash in Roxborough in August, are Friday.

In the early morning hours of August 23, 2015 Rafael Ali passed away at Einstein Hospital as a result of the injuries of an automobile accident. Rafael was born in Philadelphia on July 19, 1983. He was the third son of Drew Ali and Amina Ali. He was 32 years old.

Rafael was a graduate of Central High School in Philadelphia. He was accepted at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and received one year of schooling after high school. After college he was accepted into the Philadelphia Police Academy in 2003 and graduated in 2004. He served in the 19th district as an officer. He studied and was promoted to Corporal on November 23, 2009. He served as Corporal in the 24th district as well as the Police Detention Unit. He continued to study and was promoted to Sergeant on January 31, 2014 and served in the 39th District.
Rafael was a devoted father of two children, Josephine and Rafael Jr, and spent his extra time pushing them to do their best, and to be the best people they could possibly imagine. He was a highly intelligent family man whose priorities were always set in his house and children, and he was known to work endless hours of overtime to achieve his goals to ensure a better life for his children.

Rafael is survived by his 2 children, Josephine Ali and Rafael Ali Jr.; his niece, Jada Dawson-Ali, his 2 brothers Alhambra Ali and Seville Ali; his father, Drew Ali, and mother, Amina Ali. There will be a public Viewing of Rafael on Thursday September 3, 2015 from 6 to 9 P.M. at MEACHEM FUNERAL HOME 5526 West Thompson St, Philadelphia PA 19131. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 4, 2015, with a Viewing from 9 to 11 A.M. and Services starting at 11 A.M. at Mt. Airy Church of God in Christ, 6401 Ogontz Ave., Philadelphia PA 19126.
