Roxborough High School Offering Grab-And-Go Meals

ROXBOROUGH, PHILADELPHIA — With all Philadelphia schools closed by order of Gov. Tom Wolf, students and the families can still get meals at schools in the city, Roxborough High School included.

The School District of Philadelphia is providing meal service for students for the next two weeks.

Over the next two weeks, from Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon, any Philadelphia student (including students who attend district-run, charter, or private schools) can get up to two grab-and-go meals at Roxborough High School, 6498 Ridge Ave.

Meals are also available at 29 other schools. A list of participating schools is below.

Additionally, the city will open 50 city-owned facilities, including gyms and recreation centers as drop-in activity spaces.

In Roxborough, the Kendrick Recreation Center, located at 5822-5824 Ridge Ave., will be open as a safe space for students, and staff will offer limited meals at 3 p.m.

Forty-nine other sites will be staffed by Parks & Recreation team members, however, they should not be considered a substitute for childcare.

Parks & Recreation’s six older adult centers will remain open on a regular schedule from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for meal service.
