WB Saul High School In Roxborough Gets $7,500 Grant

ROXBOROUGH, PHILADELPHIA —Walter B. Saul High School of Agricultural Sciences in Roxborough got a grant to help continue their agricultural education.

State Rep. Pamela A. DeLissio, D-Montgomery/Philadelphia, announced a $7,500 Ag and Youth grant for the school.

Gov. Tom Wolf last week announced statewide grants at the 104th Pennsylvania Farm Show, saying the goal will improve access to agriculture education with a goal of addressing the looming 75,000 workforce deficit Pennsylvania’s agriculture industry faces in the coming decade.

Saul High School is the only agricultural high school in the commonwealth and one of three in the nation. The grant will be used to purchase new laptops for the Career and Technical Education program students use to access online agriculture education resources.

"I'm so pleased these future farmers will have the current materials necessary to be connected to online resources related to their studies," DeLissio said. "Education is multifaceted and requires independent learning, collaboration, and enhanced group work, in addition to utilizing technology as a tool for learning."

In July 2019, Wolf signed Act 40 to reenact the commonwealth’s Ag and Youth Grant Program as part of the state’s first-ever Pennsylvania Farm Bill.
