Week Ahead: Eat Free BBQ, Stop Smoking

Here's what's going on around town this week in the area.

Here's a look at what's happening this week in the Roxborough-Manayunk area.

Stop SmokingThe Roxborough Hospital will offer a tobacco cessation program on Tuesday, July 30, from 6-8 p.m.  The weekly program will for four weeks straight and will cover topics as  nicotine's effect on the brain, proper use of nicotine replacement therapies, strategies for breaking the habit and techniques for managing stress reduction. Free Barbecue: Roxborough Presbyterian will host a free barbecue on Wednesday at 6 p.m.  The barbecue is hosted by by The Philadelphia Project- a Christian non-profit organization committed to the holistic development of the neighboring community in partnership with RPC.

Tribute to hospitalized veteransGorgas Park will host the 5th Annual Tribute to Hospitalized Veterans on Satuday, August 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The free program will include live music, comedy and more.

Low Cost Animal VaccinesThere will be a low cost vaccination clinic for dogs and cats on Saturday, August 3, at 12:30 p.m. at 200 W. Ridge Pike in Conshohocken.
