Principles of Leadership

This course will engage students in determining their own strengths and weaknesses as leaders. It will enable students to overcome leadership obstacles so that their student-run activities can be efficient, organized, and exciting. Students will explore 17 leadership characteristics by examining both current and historical leaders and role models and then utilize these characteristics in a classroom leadership project.
Global Studies: The New Millennium
This course is about the world in which you live. Your generation, unlike previous generations, will be deeply affected by events, cultures and economies all around the planet. These influences will affect your career, clothes, car, food, friends, entertainment and bank account. Understanding your planet will be very helpful to your well-being. The last century began with the invention of airplane and a devastating world war.
Real World: Managing Relationships and Money
Life on your own will be the focus of this course. Where to begin when planning for your future, everything you need to know about getting a loan, finding a place of your own, how to get the most for your money, consumer smarts, and family matters.The psychology of relationships and higher level communication skills are the focus while integrating all parts of financial matters during the life cycle.
Primitive Ceramics: Earth, Air, Fire and Water
We go seriously old school in Primitive Ceramics -experimenting with primitive techniques including: creating your own clay bodies, burnishing, smoke-firing, saggar firing, raku, and alternative finishes (we often use fire as a tool in this course). The results are often unpredictable and always beautiful. Focusing on independent research and design; students study several early civilizations and their pottery-making/sculpture techniques. Â
Advanced Composing with Computers
Applied study in advanced music technology applications. This course is a continuation of Introduction to Composing with Computers and will build on the skills learned in that class. Emphasis will be on utilizing technology to conceive, create, and produce musical productions via the use of digital audio, MIDI, and computer software. Â
