Krispy Kreme Returning to Delaware County

Several years after Krispy Kreme opened and closed in Springfield, new franchise owners bring the doughnut shop back to Delaware County.

Delaware County's newest and only Krispy Kreme Doughnut shop is set to open Tuesday morning in the Manoa Shopping Center in Haverford.

The store is the fourth for the Philadelphia area Krispy Kreme franchisees but their first in Delaware County. The last Krispy Kreme in the county was in Springfield under different ownership but closed several years ago. That building is now the site of Chic-Fil-A on Baltimore Pike.

The store's owner, managers and crew spent Saturday morning going through their paces and hosting a special preview for business and government VIP's and the news media.

The Manoa Shopping Center store will open to the public on Tuesday morning at 6:30 a.m.. The first customer in line will win free doughnits each week for a year. The next 20 customers will get free doughnuts once a month for a year.

The chain is famous for its giant neon signs that announce "Hot Now" when original glazed doughnuts come fresh off the glazing line.  The doughnuts are coated in hot glaze under a "glaze fountain" that will be running non-stop on Tuesday and throughout the day on other days.
