Local Fire Companies Can Get Grant Help
Rep. Pat Meehan (R-PA7) hosts seminar to help local companies learn about and apply for federal grant money.

U.S. Rep. Patrick Meehan (R-PA7) will host a a seminar on Wednesday, Aug. 24, to help local fire comapnies learn about, and apply for, federal grants.
The seminar will be help at 7 p.m. at the Delaware County Emergency Services Training Center at 1600 Calcon Hook Roadin Sharon Hill, Pa. There are a wide range of grants for firefighting-related studies and purposes available. Some are posted here on the Federal Emergency Management Agency website.

“I’m pleased to help facilitate this workshop and help our local fire companies apply for these important grants,” said Meehan. “The AFG grants are awarded to fire departments to advance their ability to serve and protect their communities. I encourage all departments to apply for it.”
Staff from the Philadelphia Department of Homeland Security Office will be on hand to present information and answer questions regarding the grant program, application process, changes from last year’s application, and suggestions for a successful application.
The seminar will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24 at the Delaware County Emergency Services Training Center located at 1600 Calcon Hook Road, Sharon Hill, PA 19079. Any questions regarding this event or the grant may be directed to (610) 690 – 7323.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is accepting applications for the 2011 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program through Sept. 9, 2011.
