Meet Springfield's Teacher of the Month

The Springfield School District May Employee of the Month is Kristen Lenza, a special education teacher at Sabold Elementary School.

Kristen, a native of Delaware County, earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education from Bloomsburg University and her master’s degree and reading specialist certification from Cabrini College. Kristen is in her eighth year in public education, with the past seven years teaching at Sabold Elementary.

Kristen works with small groups of second and third grade students in the morning on their reading skills and in the afternoon joins the classroom teachers to help students with their math concepts.

“Every day at Sabold is a good day," she said. "The students are great, their parents are caring, and the staff is dedicated.”

She said that she loves her second- and third-grade students.

"I try to find a new way to help them learn each and every day," she said.
