Noon Accident on U.S.1 Sends One to Hospital

At least one person was taken to the hospital and traffic was reduced to a crawl in one direction of Route 1/State Road in Springfield Monday afternoon.

A rear end collision just after 12:30 p.m. brought traffic to a crawl as only one lane was able to get through in the northbound lanes of Route 1 at the Sproul Road/320 underpass by Moe's Grill.

Firefighters from Springfield and medics from the Springfield Ambulance Corps responded to the scene. At least one person from the wreck was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

Traffic was re-opened in both lanes shortly after 1 p.m.
