Springfield Ambulance Corps Offers CPR Class

You could learn how to save a life next Tuesday in Springfield.

 

The Springfield Ambulance Corps is offering a CPR class for people interested in learning how to save a life in case of a heart attack.

The next one-session class will be on Tuesday night (March 19) at the Springfield Fire House.

According to information posted on the Ambulance Corps' website:

Sudden cardiac death claims the lives of more than 310,000 Americans annually and there are more than 166,000 Americans who experience and out-of-hospital cardiac arrest each year; on average, 25 of these occur in Springfield.

The chance that a victim of sudden cardiac arrest will survive is based on several key factors which are referred to as the “Chain of Survival” by the American Heart Association:

  1. Early recognition of the emergency: call 911!
  2. Early bystander CPR
  3. Early defibrillation (shock) by AED, if indicated
  4. Early advanced life support and post resuscitative care
