Springfield Police Investigate Attempted Break-Ins and Bike Thefts

Springfield Police Department is investigating a number of attempted break-ins to homes and two bike thefts.
A resident from the 400 block of Wheatsheaf Road reported that sometime between July 26 and 29 and the time of the report someone shattered the front storm door window. The victim had been away on vacation, according to police.
A resident from the unit block of N. Hillcrest Road reported that sometime between July 26 and 30 someone attempted to forcibly enter his home while he was away. The door jam on the front porch of the home was found to have pry marks, according to police.
A resident from the 200 block of Franklin Avenue reported that sometime between July 28 and July 30 someone entered his unlocked detached garage and stole his men's black and silver colored TREK 7000 bike. The bike is valued at more than $450.
A resident from the 300 block of Indian Rock Drive reported that sometime between July 27 and August 3 someone attempted to break into his house through a side casement window. There were visible pry marks on the window frame but no entry had been gained, according to police.
A resident from the 400 block of Valley View Road reported that sometime between August 2 and 4 someone entered his unlocked shed in his backyard and stole his black colored, 20î, boy's FIT BF1 bike. The bike is valued at $500.
