3 Young Berwyn Firefighters Named "Hometown Heroes"

Three young volunteers are among 24 Main Line volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians being honored as "Hometown Heroes."

Gerard C. Griesser, Elizabeth Schew, and Carl Weisbecker were honored Tuesday night at the Main Line Chamber Foundation's "Hometown Heroes" Scholarship Awards Ceremony. The third annual event, honored students who selflessly volunteer their time and energy to serve their communities.

Each of the Berwyn Volunteers was awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Griesser is a student at West Chester University. Schew and Weisbecker are recent graduates of . Schew plans to study fire sciences at the University of New Haven. Weisbecker is headed to Kutztown University in the fall.
