Baby Spinach Recalled Over Potential E. Coli Contamination

Taylor Farms Retail is voluntarily recalling select Organic Baby Spinach products with the potential to be contaminated with Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli, or EHEC, according to a news release from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

EHEC is a strain of E. coli.

Symptoms of the diseases caused by EHEC include abdominal cramps and diarrhea that may in some cases progress to bloody diarrhea. Fever and vomiting may also occur.

Multiple products are being recalled, but the only one sold in Pennsylvania and included in the recall is Taylor Farms Organ Baby Spinach 16 oz. trays. The UPC Number is 0-30223-04780-3 and the Best By date is 2/24/2013.

The FDA reports that no other product codes or code dates are affected by the recall.

What To Do If You Bought Recalled Spinach 

The FDA urges people who bought the recalled spinach to dispose of it and to contact Taylor Farms Retail for further information at 855-293-9811.

Anyone who ate the recalled spinach who has concerns about an illness should contact a health care provider.
