Chesterbrook Contractor Charged with Fraud

Montgomery County DA: Kenneth Staiger, President of "Admiral Kitchens, Inc." aka "Renovay Kitchens and Bathrooms" Charged with Home Improvement Fraud, Deceptive Business Practices and Other Theft Related Offenses

A Chesterbrook man is charged with home improvement fraud, deceptive business practices and other theft related charges stemming from work that prosecutors say he was paid for but never completed.

According to a press release from the Montgomery County District Attorney, Kenneth Staiger never completed work he was partially paid for, including renovating a bathroom for a family with a special needs child.

Staiger was arraigned on Tuesday in a Montgomery County court. He is already awaiting trial on other charges stemming from work that prosecutors say he was paid for in 2009 but never completed.

According to the press release:

"The new criminal charges stem from additional deceptive business practices during the summer of 2009.  At this time, Staiger negotiated contracts with victims to renovate their two bathrooms for their home located in Upper Gwynedd, Montgomery County.  Terms of the negotiations dictated that STAIGER complete both bathroom renovations within three months.  This timeframe was necessary in order to have the bathrooms ready for the return of the victim’s special needs child from her out-of-state treatment facility.  STAIGER agreed to the three-month timeframe, and promised the victims that he would provide his best “crew” of employees to do the renovations.  Based on this representation, the victims entered into the contract with STAIGER and paid over $20,000 for STAIGER’s contractor services."
