Conestoga Students Score Big on National Scholarship Tests
26 'Stoga juniors rank among the top 1% in the nation.
An elite group of Conestoga High School students are among the best high school scholars in the nation based on results of the National Merit Scholarship test.

Conestoga’s students have been recognized for their achievements as National MeritSemifinalists and Commended Scholars. This recognition is based on their performance on thePSAT/NMSQT tests.

Twenty-six Conestoga students have been recognized as Semifinalists. This ranks themamong the top 1% of juniors in the nation. These students will go on to compete as finalistsand perhaps become eligible for scholarships through the National Merit Corporation or itssponsoring organizations.
Twenty-four of Conestoga’s students have been recognized for their achievements as NationalMerit Commended Scholars. Although Commended Students do not continue in the competitionfor National Merit Scholarships, some of these students do become candidates for Special Scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses.

One Conestoga student has been named a National Achievement Scholar. The NationalAchievement Scholarship Program is an academic competition established in 1964 to provide recognition for outstanding African-American high school students. African-American students may enter both the National Achievement Program and the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) and meeting other published requirements for participation.
Five Conestoga students have been recognized as National Hispanic Scholars. Two of the National Hispanic Scholars were also named Semi-finalists and three were named as Commended. The National Hispanic Recognition Program, established in 1983, is a College Board program that provides national recognition of the exceptional academic achievements of Hispanic high school seniors and identifies them for post-secondary institutions.
Students enter the program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) as high school juniors and by identifying themselves as Hispanic.
These students and their parents gathered in the CHS Library on Wednesday, October 12,2011, with members of the administration and faculty to be recognized for their achievements.
