Dinner Raises $2,500 to Help Mr. Yang Recover

100 diners filled Wednesday evening to enjoy dinner and help raise money to support Yong Yang's recovery after a brutal attack and robbery at next door to Aneu.

Aneu owner Meridith Coyle and owner Doug Kirschner organized the dinner to help their long-time next door business neighbor.  Coyle signed on as soon Kirschner approached her with the idea.

"As soon as I heard he only had Medicare I knew he would be out for a lot of non-covered expenses," Kirschner tells Patch. "This event is a win-win-win. Mr. Yang gets help, everybody here gets a wonderful dinner and Aneu gets new customers who may not have eaten here before," Kirschner said at the end of an evening that had local politicians and business people leaving with smiles on their faces.

Yang's Market is literally surrounded by Aneu, with the restaurant on one side of the market and Aneu's catering business on the other. One door up from Aneu's Bistro and Wine Bar is Kirschner's Berwyn Glass. Local business owners from all over Easttown and Tredyffrin felt moved to be part of the night. Owner Pete Bottos summed up the comments of many at the event telling Patch "you gotta support local businesses."

Coyle says TE Patch readers also responded in big numbers. She says as of Monday she had only about 20 or 30 reservations for the dinner, but after Patch featured the story of the fundraiser on Tuesday morning about 70 more reservations came in.
