Light Rain Falls On Dry Trout Creek In Tredyffrin
The creek, which extends from eastern Tredyffrin Township to King of Prussia, dried up this summer due to a lack of rain.
TREDYFFRIN PA — Trout Creek got a sprinkling of rain in the last 48 hours, amounting to about a half an inch, according to the National Weather Service based in Mount Holly, N.J.
The rainfall measured in nearby Phoenixville, was 0.4 inches and in King of Prussia, Montgomery County, the rainfall measured at 0.37 inches, according to forecasters. Check here for updated rainfall measurements.
This is atypical for suburban Philadelphia.

Trout Creek crosses Gulph Road, which extends into Valley Forge National Park, and is a state road heavily traveled by locals and commuters.
During the tropical storm season, which extends through September, Trout Creek often overflows onto adjacent roadways.

Last summer, the creek overflowed into Gateway Shopping Center, causing several stores, including Trader Joe’s, to close.
According to Tom Kimes, a senior meteorologist at Accuweather, near State College, the creeks in Pennsylvania are drying up because there has been very little rainfall this summer.
“For the past six to eight weeks, it’s been unusually dry,” he said.
Kimes said the typical rain measured at the Philadelphia International Airport from mid June to mid August is 9 inches. This year, he said, there was only 5 inches of rain.
Kimes predicted Monday when it rains, the creeks may fill back up.
Accuweather predicts the next few days are expected to be sunny. There is a 30% chance of rain in the forecast Friday.
Last summer, a total of 12 inches of rain was reported in less than two weeks in late August and early September in Tredyffrin Township.
