Main Line Sushi Restaurant Severely Damaged In Early Morning Blaze

The Chester County Fire Marshal is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze.

PAOLI, PA — Main Line Sushi , a Japanese restaurant on East Lancaster Avenue in the Paoli section of Tredyffrin Township, was severely damaged in an early morning blaze.

Paoli Fire Chief Harrison Holt said the fire broke out at 1:14 a.m. and was under control at1:51 p.m.

The chief said the fire appears to have been accidental.

The damage is estimated at $100,000 for the building and $100,000 for the contents inside the restaurant.

There were tenants residing in an apartment above the restaurant, which is located next to Main Line Seafood and Village Optical.

No one was injured in the blaze, the chief said.

John Weer, Chester County fire marshal, is conducting an investigation.

By late afternoon Friday, the restaurant was boarded up.

Main Line Sushi is in a separate building adjacent to Main Line Seafood Market, a market with fresh seafood and party trays with a dining area.

Caleb Simpson, assistant manager of Main Line Market, was working at the market Friday afternoon.

"Nobody got any sleep," he said. "We are happy noone got hurt. Everyone got out and we are all safe. It could have been a lot worse."

Insurance adjusters surveyed the scene on Friday.

The restaurant is expected to reopen, according to the restaurant's Facebook page.

The patrons described the sushi restaurant as the best sushi ever and said they are glad the restaurant plans to reopen.

Paoli Fire Company was assisted by Berwyn, Malvern, Newtown Square, Goodwill Fire Co. #2, West Chester, East Whiteland, Radnor, West Whiteland companies. Tredyffrin Township police assisted.

Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Co., Broomall Fire Company and West End Fire Company #3 of Phoenixville provided standby coverage of the area while other units were extinguishing the blaze.

Resident Sara Gladney expressed appreciation to the firefighters for their commitment to the community.
