Nighttime Lane Closures to Double on Route 202 This Week

One lane will be shut down in each direction this week.

Road construction will see U.S. 202 reduced to one lane in each direction for overnight work this week. According to PennDOT, the right lane of southbound traffic and the left lane of northbound traffic will be closed from 8p.m.-5a.m. between the Route 401 and Chesterbrook interchanges in East Whiteland and Tredyffrin Townships.

The construction is part of the ongoing work to widen the highway. An advisory from PennDOT explains that the roadwork being done from July 18-21 is because "PennDOT’s contractor is rebuilding Route 202’s southbound right shoulder and setting concrete barriers to prepare the southbound side of highway to carry two lanes of southbound and northbound traffic starting later this year."

The project "is part of PennDOT’s $105.4 million project to add a third travel lane in each direction along four miles of Route 202 from just south of the Route 252 Interchange in Tredyffrin Township to just north of the Route 401 Interchange in East Whiteland Township," the advisory explains.
