Super Time in Indy For Herzlich Brothers

It's the stuff every kid's backyard football fantasy is made of.

For a pair of local brothers this is one super weekend in Indianapolis. Brad and Mark Herzlich have been sharing bits and pieces of Super Bowl week and weekend with the world via Twitter.

You've got to figure it's like living the fantasy that many young kids only dream of as they snap the ball and offer the running play-by-play in the backyard: "it's fourth and ten, 30 seconds to go and the score is tied....he takes the snap, he's looking, looking, the fate of the Super Bowl resting on this one play..."

For the brothers who grew up in Wayne and graduated Conestoga High School this Superbowl appears to be even sweeter than the dream of every young backyard touch football player. Less than two years ago doctors told Mark Herzlich he would never play football, and might not even walk again.

He is not only walking and playing football, he's preparing to end his rookie year in the NFL by playing in the Super Bowl for the New York Giants.

On Saturday Mark Herzlich tweeted that the physical preparations had come to an end and that it was all mental prep now.” I’d like to know how many hours of meetings we've had since Aug. weird we just had last one," he tweeted.

Herzlich has said that his younger brother Brad was one of his biggest inspirations during the Giants' college years as a Boston College star.

Brad Herzlich, a college student, is in Indianapolis with his brother, tweeting about the experience. He is clearly loving it. Late last week Brad was trying to get more followers on Twitter. All it took was one tweet about it from Superbowl-bound brother Mark. Brad tweeted that the number of followers he had exploded by hundreds just in the time he was sitting in one college class. (That's how TE Patch came to start following Brad).

Saturday afternoon Brad Herzlich tweeted that he had been enjoying the parties and the NFL experience ("very cool but very crowded") but that he was going to spend some time with Mark "without the Mayhem".

According to the tweets from both Herzlich Brothers, they spent part of Saturday unwinding and watching the movie "_50/50". The Seth Rogen dramadey tells the story of a young 20 something diagnosed with cancer._

Mark Herzlich tweeted: "Just watched the movie #50/50 and it was crazy how true the feelings are portrayed in the movie."

The Herzlich family story is still being written, but it's clear that family has played a huge role in the journey from _ to the biggest field in all of football. Countless millions will be watching on Sunday as the next chapter in their incredible journey is written when the New York Giants meet The New England Patriots in Superbowl XLVI.
