T/E Students Mark MLK Day with Service Events

Schools are closed in honor of MLK Day, but many students are spending the day on service projects.

Schools in the Tredyffrin-Easttown School District are closed on Monday for the Martin Luther King Holiday, but students at many district schools will be spedning the day on community service projects. What follows is a list provided by the district.

T/E District MLK Day activities include:

•Devon Elementary School students will participate in a school-wide service project.  They will collect non-perishable breakfast foods and assemble breakfast bags for distribution to needy families through the Jerusalem Community Food Pantry.

•New Eagle Elementary School students will make bag lunches and “goodie” bags.  The bag lunches will be donated to a soup kitchen in Norristown.  The goodie bags will be filled with socks, mittens, and toiletries and donated to an after-school program for children in Philadelphia.

•Tredyffrin-Easttown Middle School students and families will participate in an MLK, Jr. Casserole Project.  Over the weekend, students and families planned to make casseroles to be delivered to local food pantries.

•Students from the T/E Middle School Student Council are collaborating with the Conestoga Student United Way to collect new and gently used sports equipment for schools and students in struggling areas
