Toomey Makes His Case on Debt Ceiling on US Senate Floor

Freshman PA Republican and Senate Budget Committee member says he is "not impressed" by the negotiations so far.

As the debate over raising the national debt ceiling rages on in Washington, PA Senator Pat Toomey is making his case on the U.S. Senate Floor and on cable network MSNBC. Toomey is a member of the Senate Budget Committee.

The Freshman Republican made a nearly 13 minute speech on the Senate Floor Wednesday and called for a three point approach that would give the President what the White House is asking for in return for a plan to mandate a balanced budget within a decade.

Toomey also appeared on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" program Thursday morning to make the case again, but in different forum, which co-host and former Republican Congressman Joe Scarborough described as "the Democrat hour of power."

Toomey, a conservative former Congressman was elected to the Senate in November, 2010 defeating former 7th Congressional District Democrat Joe Sestak.

Pennsylvania Democrat U.S. Senator Bob Casey does not sit on the budget committee and has not realeased any public comment specific to the debt ceiling deabte.
