Tredyffrin Police Earn Accredidation Honor
The department is one of only 150 of the 1,117 law enforcement agencies in PA to maintain the top standards in law enforcement.

TREDYFFRIN, PA —The Tredyffrin police department was awarded a Certificate of Law Enforcement Accreditation from the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association, an achievement earned by only 150 of the 1,117 law enforcement departments in Pennsylvania.
Lt. James Adams, the program coordinator for the State Chiefs of Police Association, presented the certificate to the department leaders at a meeting Monday night.
He said the certificate requires meeting 125 standards and 245 sub standards, in total 370 best practices in law enforcement.

Police Superintendent T. Michael Beaty credited his team for being active in achieving the accreditation.
They are Captain Tim Brown, Lt. Tyler Moyer, Sgt. Jim Slavin and Christina Johnson, detective secretary; and Sharon Rose, executive secretary. The department has 42 police officers, including four detectives.
“This is a whole agency accomplishment,” the chief said. “Lt. Moyer really stepped up. In March last year, we ramped up efforts. We worked with consultants to make sure the policies were correct. I can thank the consultants and the township enough."

Adams said the certification puts the police department on the cutting edge of best practices.
The department is required to provide an annual report each year on its progress to the association.
Adams said that one advantage of the certification is that insurance companies will provide better service to accredited departments.
