Tredyffrin Supervisor Candidates to Debate Tonight

The forum will be held at 7 p.m. at the Tredyffrin Municipal Building

Candidates for the Tredyffrin Township Board of Supervisors will square off tonight at 7 p.m. at the . It is a candidate forum sponsored by the Chester County League of Women Voters.

If you don't know who's running or don't know what they stand for, this is your chance to meet the candidates behind all those signs that have popped up everywhere.

Perhaps, unlike their signs, the candidates might even tell you which political party they represent. While that information will be on the ballot on November 8 it is absent from every Tredyffrin Board of Supervisors candidate's lawn signs.

Among the topics expected to be addressed: Development, including the Paoli Transportation Center and the proposed earned income tax (EIT). While the Board of Supervisors won't be the body to decide whether or not to put the EIT on the April ballot, the Board of Supervisors would have the option to co-opt half the tax collected if an EIT were to be first put on the ballot and then approved by the voters.

The EIT will most likely play an even bigger role in Tuesday's debate among candidates running for a spot on the T/E School Board. The school board does have the power to vote to put the issue on the ballot in April. Republican candidates, as evidenced by their yard signs, are opposed to the EIT.  However, just like the candidates for supervisor, not a single school board candidate has put their party affiliation on any of the signs that have sprung up all over Tredyffrin and Easttown.
