MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — An Upper Dublin Township man could be spending up to nearly two years in prison after he was sentenced by a state judge recently in connection with a child porn possession case against him, according to court records and media reports.

Jacob Weiss, 26, of the Fort Washington section of Upper Dublin, was given nine to 23 months in prison following sentencing on April 18 by Montgomery County Common Pleas Court Judge Thomas C. Branca.

Weiss had pleaded guilty back in November of last year to two felony counts of child pornography possession.

Weiss could have faced a maximum possible sentence of between 7 and 14 years in prison had the case gone to trial if he hadn't entered guilty pleas, according to media reports.

Montgomery County prosecutors first announced charges against Weiss back in the fall of 2020.

At the time, the District Attorney's Office said that the case against Weiss, then 24 years old, began when a specially trained detective working with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force came across shared child pornography files that were associated with an ID address belonging to Weiss.

Investigators had served a searched warrant at the defendant's home back in July 2020, at which time they found electronic devices belonging to Weiss that contained 692 still images and 38 video files of child pornography.

The images depicted children under the age of 18 — many of whom were under 10 years old — in various states of nudity and involved in various sexual acts, according to the D.A.'s Office.

Weiss was initially charged with 300 felony counts of child porn possession, along with additional counts of distributing child pornography, criminal use of a communications facility and possessing an instrument of crime.

Records show that prosecutors dropped the additional charges against Weiss after he entered an open guilty plea on two of the felony counts.
