UDPD Reports: Hit and Run, Several DUIs
Weekly police reports from Upper Dublin Township

Hit and Run: Shortly after 11 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, the Upper Dublin Police Department was dispatched to the 800-block of Firethorn Circle for a report of a hit and run.
A female victim stated that she had parked her 2004 Acura TSX along the 500-block of Applewood Drive while visiting a friend between the hours of 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., but when she entered the vehicle to leave, she noticed damage to the driver's side. Officers observed a fresh white-paint transfer along the driver's side, and the driver's side mirror had been ripped from the vehicle.
Police have no leads at this time.

DUI - Alcohol: While conducting a sobriety check point at the intersection of Bethlehem Pike and Highland Avenue on Friday, May 25, officers from the Upper Dublin Police Department arrested 39-year-old Sara Freed-Weiss, on suspicion of DUI.
Weiss, of North Wales, was stopped at the checkpoint at 11:15 p.m., and police noted a moderate-to-strong odor of alcohol on her breath. Weiss stated she had consumed two glasses of wine, but when officers administered a portable breath test, the results showed a .12 blood-alcohol content.

Weiss was then transported to Fast Track for additional testing.
DUI - Controlled Substance: While conducting a sobriety check point at the intersection of Bethlehem Pike and Highland Avenue during the early-morning hours of Saturday, May 26, police arrested 36-year-old Danielle Katz on suspicion of DUI - Controlled Substance.
Katz, of Glenside, entered the checkpoint at 12:12 a.m., while traveling southbound on Bethlehem Pike at a high rate of speed. Once Katz had stopped, police detected the odor of burnt marijuana emanating from the interior of her vehicle. Katz was then taken to the testing station, where she failed two sobriety tests. Police said she had bloodshot, watery eyes and appeared unsteady on her feet, though they did not observe an odor of alcohol.
Police then transported Katz to Holy Redeemer Hospital, where she consented to a blood draw. Charges are pending the results of the blood test.
DUI - Alcohol and Controlled Substance: While conducting a sobriety check point at the intersection of Bethlehem Pike and Highland Avenue during the early-morning hours of Saturday, May 26, police arrested 44-year-old James Scipione on suspicion of DUI - Alcohol and Controlled Substances.
Scipione, of Fort Washington, was stopped at the checkpoint 11:52 p.m., while traveling northbound on Bethlehem Pike. Police detected an "overwhelming odor of burnt marijuana" from Scipione, as well as the passenger compartment of the vehicle. Officers reported that Scipione had slurred speech, an unsteady gate while walking and standing, and watery, bloodshot eyes.
Based on the police observations and the drivers performance during the field sobriety tests, Scipione was transported to Holy Redeemer Hospital, where he consented to a blood draw. The report states that charges are to follow.
