Cheltenham High School Evacuated After 'Power Surge'
Emergency personnel were called to the school early Friday morning.

CHELTENHAM, PA — Cheltenham High School was evacuated Friday morning after a power surge caused a power outage across the property, school officials said. The cause of the surge is not yet clear.
The incident occurred during first period classes. Phones and internet both went down, and emergency personnel responded to the school.
The surge could have a lingering effect for upcoming scheduled events.

"Tonight's Homecoming activities are on a yet as to be determined basis," Principal Jimmy D'Andrea wrote in a note sent to families. "All other activities in the building for the day are canceled."
D'Andrea later added on social media that a decision on the evening's football game and other events would be decided in the early afternoon.

Crews are on scene investigating the surge and outage.
