Eastern Student Achieves U.S. Navy-Approved Welding Certification

Eastern Center for Arts and Technology and Upper Moreland High School student Paul Lowry Jr., received the Welder Training and Testing Institute for Visual Testing Level II certification.

Eastern Center for Arts and Technology () Welding Technology/ senior, Paul Lowry, Jr. received certification by the Welder Training & Testing Institute for Visual Testing Level II conducted in accordance with the U.S. Navy.

Paul is currently working through a cooperative education program with EASTERN and Revtur Welding in Warminster. Through this program, Paul attends EASTERN once a week, and works at Revtur Welding for the rest of the week. Revtur Welding is a family business owned by Paul’s father, Paul Lowry, Sr., who is an EASTERN graduate and a current Occupational Advisory Committee member. Paul always knew he wanted to be a part of the family business and started welding at 10 years old.

One of Revtur Welding’s clients, H&K Tool and Machine, Inc., obtained a contract with the U.S. Navy for welded parts to be used on a Navy ship. According to Navy welding practices, once a welder has completed a weld, another certified welder needs to inspect the weld.
