Threat That Shut Down Upper Moreland Schools Traced To 'Online Game'

The district and police said they discovered the connection during their investigtion Monday morning.

UPPER MORELAND, PA — The threat which shut down Upper Moreland schools on Monday originated from students playing an online game, school officials said. A further investigation of the threat found that it was not credible.

Upper Morleand Superintendent Sue Elliot said the update comes after the district and Upper Moreland Police completed a thorough investigation.

"There is no threat of violence to our students, staff, or schools," she said. "We are grateful to the UMPD for their support and dedication to safety in our schools."

Details of the online game are unclear, but authorities are asking for increased oversight from parents.

"I encourage you to monitor your children’s online activity and speak with them about the dangers of sharing information via gaming and other online platforms," Elliot added.
